Less than a year ago I published my first book, How to Lead Like Abraham Lincoln. My book was released soon after my grandmother passed away.

I was always a writer, but I didn’t publish anything. I just wrote.

My books were kept safely “saved” away on my computer. The idea of being a published writer seemed out of reach.

My writing journey started in elementary school where I could be found writing stories on the school computer.

When a teacher asked, “what do you want to be when you grow up?”

My response was always “author.”

Anyone who knows me can attest to my love for reading and sharing the valuable knowledge I obtained through reading with others.

Thinking back, I am not sure why I didn’t publish sooner. Perhaps I thought it wasn’t possible.

My grandmother knew my dream was possible for me.

She was always there to believe in me, and I learned how to be a good human being from watching how she interacted with others.

Learning to lead with empathy doesn’t come easy. My grandmother did it naturally. Even when she was in the nursing home, the staff would only speak about how loving she is.

After her passing, I decided it was time to publish my book. It wasn’t for me; it was for her.

Her influence is the reason I dedicated my first book to her and offer the eBook version for free. I am blessed to say over 3,000 fans have downloaded the book.
